October 27 & October 28 - Challenge 2006 - New Minas Baptist Church

A yearly favorite! One of the most popular weekend youth retreats! Pack your sleeping bag and your adventurous spirit and plan to attend!

This year the speaker is Chris Austin form Charlottetown, PEI and the Penny Merchants return to lead the musical worship.
The cost is $35 per person to go plus $5 towards transportation expense. Like all youth group events, don't let money get in the way of you taking part. If this seems too expensive to you, TALK TO JENN AND JON!!!

If you want to bring extra money there will be Challenge TShirts for sale for $15.00 each AND there will be Penny Merchant merchandise for sale.

There is a talent show on Friday night that our group can sign up for if you would like to take part in it: TALK TO JENN AND JON!!!

Wednesday October 11, 2006 Youth Group

The Plan: Games, Quest DVD 1, Social time and snack

The Summary of Actual Events:
Angie, Ginger, Euchrid, Tricia, Natasha, Sheela, Kaylyn, Abigail, Justin and Dustin came and Evan and Tori joined us for their first night (as did another neighbourhood youth who had to leave during the game). Mike and Linda joined us from Windsor Baptist.
We played SKAT (which we called SPUD) in the parking lot and Evan won.

After our game time we went to the Parlour and watched Phil Cann in the first installment of QUEST: Wake Up and Smell the Concrete. Then we had KoolAid, conversation and prayer time.

THE GOAL OF quest IS TO HELP YOUTH ENGAGE IN DISCUSSION ABOUT SPIRITUAL ISSUES.

WE WANT YOU TO WRESTLE WITH THE IDEA OF WHO JESUS WAS AND WHAT HE STOOD FOR...

We discussed the following questions:

What’s your embarrassing story?

When was the last time something happened to you that made you think really hard about life?

Why don’t we spend more time talking about religious beliefs or what happens after death is this is a fate that all of us as humans share?

“Many people today feel that bringing up religious stuff is an invasion of privacy. Yet this puts Christians in a real tight spot. If we believe that we have information that could save someone’s life, but we keep it to ourselves, then what kind of friend are we if we don’t share this “vital info” with others?”

The Game Plan: Games, Deep Shorts DVD, Social time and snack

The Summary of Actual Events:
Angie, Dustin, Natasha, Sheela, Kaylyn, Penguin, Abigail, Euchrid, Trisha, Marissa, Daniel, Kate, Ginger came and we played capture the flag with playing cards – except we were hunting for oranges and not flags, and then we raced, pushing the oranges along the ground with noses.

Inside we enjoyed our weekly kool-aid and some pop while watching a Deep Shorts DVD by Phil Cann. The topic: Facing God. The Question: What if it’s true that you live once, die once and then stand before God to be judged?

Two verses that we considered are:

Hebrews 9:27-28
Just as man is destined to die once, and after that to face judgment, so Christ was
sacrificed once to take away the sins of many people; and he will appear a second time,
not to bear sin, but to bring salvation to those who are waiting for him.

2 Corinthians 5:10
For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, that each one
may receive what is due him for the things done while in the body, whether
good or bad.

Youth Group Retreat at Kingswood Camp
This is the weekend we have been waiting for! Our kick off youth retreat with other youth groups from the Valley. A fabulous speaker, worship times, time with just our group, good food, fun and so much more! Hope you can come!!!
Details:
Leaving Falmouth Baptist Church Friday Night at 6:00 pm
Returning to Falmouth Baptist Church Sunday Afternoon at 2:30 pm
Cost: $30 per person or what you can afford. (Money is not to keep you from coming!)
IF YOU NEED A RIDE LET JENN KNOW BY EMAILING OR CALLING HER BEFORE THURSDAY at 5pm.
